Main Info
Get a taste of ancient Rome with a visit to the Colosseum arena and Palatine Hill. It’s one thing to read about it, but another thing entirely to take selfies standing where gladiators once did battle (and when lions did not roar inside). The tour concludes with an exploration of Palatine Hill through its narrow lanes, where Roman emperors once walked and ruled.
This tour takes you straight inside the ancient amphitheatre and out onto the arena floor through the Gladiator’s Gate. This is the route the gladiators themselves took almost 2,000 years ago. Imagine their excitement at walking out into an arena brimming with bloodthirsty spectators on all four sides. Your family friendly guide will transport you back in time to when the Colosseum was constructed and Rome was ruled by all-powerful emperors (sometimes wise, sometimes wacky), when exotic riches flooded into the city from around the world, and when the Colosseum acted as its main stage for showing off people and animals that had been conquered by Rome.
Next, we’ll climb the Palatine Hill, home to the Imperial Palace and other wonders that tell the story of Rome. Gaze upon such sites as the Hut of Romulus, Rome’s legendary founder, and experience a tour like no other.
The finale of our tour is the Roman Forum. This is where Julius Caesar was cremated, and where two disgraced emperors were murdered in 69 AD.
