The tour inside Rome’s Catacombs of Saint Callixtus or at the Catacombs of Domitilla is conducted by Vatican trained guides, as the Vatican prefers it this way. Once there, we will join a small group and your private guide will be down with you at all times. If you have questions, your guide will answer and explain better once we are out of the Catacombs.

As the famous line says, you cannot judge a book by its cover – you cannot totally understand Rome just by visiting the Colosseum or the Trevi Fountain or the Vatican. You need to go deeper and deeper to learn more about Rome’s history.

One of the most requested visits is into the Roman Catacombs. The mystery is just too tempting, to see what lies within is not an experience for everyone: this is only for the brave! Were the Catacombs used as secret hiding places or as persecution chambers or just as burial grounds for Christians? Come and discover truth. Then get a chance to go under the church of San Clemente, dark and deep and cold. And to top this spooky experience, head to the church of San Pietro in Vincoli. The skeletons abound, waiting for you to pass by and say hello. And while you’re there, don’t forget to look for two of Rome’s best kept secrets.

Get ready as you explore the ancient layers of Rome and come to understand why it is called the Eternal City.
