The Opera Garnier is considered to be a hidden gem in the mesmerizing city of Paris. Although its outside appearance is unarguably sublime, not many people are aware that it is twice as stunning from the inside. In this Opera Kids Paris Tour, you will benefit from a visit to the glorious Opera and learn about its history while captivating your kids interest at the same time!

Rumor has it that, for over 100 years, a ghost has been secretly living in the basements of the Opera. It is said that, by the likes of this ghost, he roams around frightening the spectators. This is making them increasingly worried and hesitating to come to the shows. This is no good business for the Opera and could possibly lead to its bankruptcy. The Opera directors are eagerly looking to enlist a detective and heard that your kids were in town. They are the only ones that can help!

A specialist of the 19th century Arts and History who likes solving riddles, is the perfect assistant for such investigation. Our local tour guide happens to be an expert in such, making him a perfect candidate for the position of detective assistant. He will accompany your children and equip them with a compass and some clues, to get the best out of the exploration the Opera House.

Starting from the striking Rotunda of the Subscribers, the private entrance for the Opera Subscribers, your guide will have offer you plenty of mesmerizing anecdotes and stories.

It will then be time to continue this walking tour in the search for the phantom and climb the astonishing Great Staircase proudly created by Jean Louis Charles Garnier, the Opera’s architect, hence the name of this magnificent building. With its 30 meters height and 128 balconies, you and your kids will be awe-inspired by its beauty and vastness. Lavish to say the least!

Mr. Phantom cannot escape from the grip of our little detectives for much longer! In the Great Foyer, a gorgeous hall with shiny gold marbles, they will gather further details and clues to chase him down! Paying extra attention to details, for instance looking up at the mosaic-covered vaults or scrutinizing the portraits hung on the Opera House Museum, they might be able to discover even more hints to corner the nasty ghost.

Then, your little Sherlocks – and yourself ‑ will discover the rounded, red and gilded Audience Room, painted by Chagall and once considered to be scandalous. Though not for the work of Mr. Nasty Phantom.

After having made the most out of the Theater, return to your hunt; you are on the verge of unraveling the mystery! The Phantom of the Opera should be shortly caught, all thanks to your kids’ perspicacity and shrewdness!

We all had so much fun, learning about the history of the opera and playing detectives at the same time. My daughter Claire and my son John were amused by the vastness of the place and really enjoyed the little games. I would book with them again immediately as we had an amazing time!

We greatly enjoyed our tour in the Opera House. The kids were engaged the entire time! Our guide told us an amazing story about a window inside the Opera house and the kids were simply fascinated.  It was the highlight of our time in Paris and I would highly recommend it for any family. The company is professional, enlightening, and most importantly, exciting for the entire family!
